People have been marveling at the night sky for millennia; it is a source of wonder for people of all ages and cultures. Through a series of fun challenges, students will learn about the celestial objects and phenomena that can be observed with our own eyes or with the help of a telescope.
This program is offered virtually via Zoom. We have implemented the following measures to ensure that our virtual programming is safe and secure:
- Waiting room to prevent uninvited guests from joining the meeting
- Controls in place to control if and when students can chat and share content
- End-to-end encryption to ensure proper security
- Recording of program is not permitted by any party

Curriculum links
This program will cover the following curriculum-related topics and themes across a range of grade levels. The content can be adapted, based on the needs of the group.
Celestial objects
- Identification of celestial bodies and their relationships within our solar system
Properties of light
- Characteristics and properties of light and their impact on how we perceive the universe and the operation of a telescope
Behaviour of light
- Reflection and refraction in a telescope to produce magnification
Historical technologies
- Celestial navigation technologies
Technologies for space observation
- Technologies used for observing space such as telescopes and satellites
Social studies
- Historical and cultural interpretations of constellations observable from Earth
Art
- Capturing the wonders of space in art and photography
Fees
$140 per session. We request a maximum of 30 students or one classroom per session, in order maximize the educator’s ability to interact with your students.
