About us

About Ingenium

Ingenium explores how science intersects with everyday life through multi-generational educational and entertaining programming.

Founded in 1990 under the Museums Act, Ingenium is a Crown corporation dedicated to fostering scientific and technological literacy throughout Canada. We maintain and develop Canada’s national collection of scientific and technological objects and library collection (including books, historic photographs, and archival documents).

Ingenium operates three national museums in Ottawa that cover soil to space—and everything in between. Our museums are brought to life by stories of compelling innovators and our incredible collection of artifacts that represent our nation’s heritage.

We reach audiences from coast to coast beyond our museums. Our presence runs across the country and online, via travelling exhibitions, artifact loans, community-based programs, conference presentations, lecture series, virtual exhibitions and tours, webinars, mobile apps, and other online platforms.
