Ingredients
- 2 cups (500 mL) milk
- ¼ cup (60 mL) pumpkin puree
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) maple syrup
- 1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla extract
- ½ tsp (2.5 mL) pumpkin pie spice
Optional: top with whipped cream for extra decadence!
Preparation
- Add the milk, pumpkin purée, maple syrup, vanilla, and pumpkin pie spice to a blender. Blending first makes the drink extra smooth and creamy by fully incorporating the pumpkin puree and spices. This prevents clumps and helps the flavours mix evenly.
- Pour the blended mixture into a small saucepan. Heat gently over medium heat until it’s warm and just starting to simmer, with small bubbles forming around the edges (don’t let it boil). Stir often and give it a good whisk at the end to froth it up a bit!
- Pour into mugs, top with whipped cream if desired, and enjoy!
Notes
- This recipe can easily be doubled if you’re serving a group.
- For a cozy caffeine boost, pour it over a hot cup of coffee or chai tea.
- Want to make your own pumpkin pie spice? Just mix ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and a pinch of allspice. A simple blend to start with is 3 parts cinnamon, 1 part nutmeg, 1 part ginger, and ½ part cloves, plus a pinch of allspice. Adjust to taste—add more cinnamon for sweetness or extra ginger and cloves for a spicier kick.
