This March Break, join us for an exciting blend of science and play!

Join us this March Break for an exciting combination of science and play! Explore a variety of fun activities and experiments that will spark your curiosity. Get creative at our giant cardboard play area, join us at the main stage for thrilling demonstrations, and meet special guests who will showcase fascinating projects and scientific research!

*Please note that we are open on Mondays during these two weeks.

Included with museum admission

Cardboard extravaganza

Dates: February 28 to March 8 | March 14 to 22

Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location: Special Exhibition Hall

Join us for our fourth annual Cardboard Extravaganza! Build towering structures out of cardboard blocks, create giant geometric sculptures, and work with others to create a miniature cardboard community!

Parents/guardians must remain in the Special Exhibition Hall while their children play. Adults are welcome to enjoy the lounge seating while they wait.

Please note that the museum may limit the number of participants in the programming area at any given time.

Backyard brains

Dates: March 18 to 20

Time: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Location: The Hub

Join the Ottawa Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience for some surprising neuroscience activities to celebrate  Brain Awareness Week. Try our Backyard Brains experiments, which allow you to control a robotic claw or another person’s hand using signals sent from your brain to your muscles! Test your reaction time, see your brainwaves on a computer, and learn more about touch, taste, and smell.

Build with LEGO® bricks

Location: Special Exhibition Hall  

Get ready to build, test, and unleash your imagination with our popular LEGO® brick activities! Create your own masterpieces with free‑form building, shake things up on our earthquake platform, help construct a giant collaborative mural, and discover what your creativity can do.

Step into science with virtual reality

Dates:

Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Closed from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.)

Location: Exploratek 

Step into the world of virtual reality and become part of real scientific research with the ABCs Developmental Neuropsychology Lab! Kids and teens ages 5 to 17 can try out exciting VR experiences like RV‑Focus, SoMoral, and TEEMs to explore how we think, learn, and make decisions.

As this is a scientific project, participation requires consent from a parent or legal guardian. Conditions may apply.

Science on the big screen

Join us in the auditorium this March Break for continuous screenings of four fun National Film Board episodes from The Great List of Everything web series. A perfect science break for curious minds of all ages!
