Sewn circuits plushies: where science meets softness!
Location: Exploratek
This activity is suitable for children 8 and up.
Join members of Carleton University’s Creative Interaction Lab for a hands-on workshop that sparks creativity and curiosity. Stitch simple electric circuits into plush toys using LEDs, conductive thread, and batteries. See your creation light up, then capture a photo of your unique plushie before the components are reused for the next inventive design.
The Creative Interactions Lab (CIL) at Carleton University explores how technology can support human creativity, accessibility, and meaningful interaction for people of all abilities. Led by Dr. Audrey Girouard, their research spans e-textiles, wearable technologies, flexible displays, and adaptive interfaces for art and music.
Collaboration is at the heart of their work — they partner closely with participants to ensure their voices help shape the technologies of tomorrow. They are always eager to build new connections with the community and explore fresh ideas together.
