An exhibit of planes in a spacious hanger with high structured ceiling at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum

Exhibition

Northern and Bush Flight

Ongoing

In a country as vast as Canada, aviation has played a major role in providing access to remote areas and rugged wilderness.

Bush planes and float planes have helped connect communities, facilitate trade, map terrain, and develop our natural resources. See how important they have been to our development as a nation, and how essential they remain to this day.

Exhibition highlights

  • See the first de Havilland Canada Beaver ever produced, and learn how innovative its short takeoff and landing capability really was
  • Learn about the first bush plane to be designed in Canada: the Noorduyn Norseman, nicknamed “Canada’s flying cargo truck”
  • Discover how the museum recovered an HS-2L called La Vigilance from the bottom of Foss Lake in northern Ontario
