Students explore the impact of aviation and the development of Canada’s aerospace industry since our first powered flight in 1909. The tour covers important individuals, events and aircraft from early aviation in Canada through the end of the First World War including the Aerial Experiment Association, the JN-4 and its many firsts, the role of women in aviation, the impacts of bush flying, the advent of satellites and the importance of Canadarm. .

Discover the evolution of aviation and its impacts through time by comparing the modern era to life in the past. Through the lens of aircraft histories, museum guides will lead engaging group discussions about the social and economic changes that came about as a result of this dynamic industry.

$7.25 per student. Please note a minimum fee of $145 applies.

*Program includes free admission for one adult for every four participants for elementary-aged students, or one adult for every six participants for secondary-aged students. Please note that there is a mandatory minimum ratio of 1 adult for every 10 students. Any additional adults not included in the program fee will be required to pay the regular visitor fee at admission and will not be able to participate in the program. These requirements do not apply to groups with students who have special needs.

How do aircraft fly? In this hands-on program, students build and test custom model planes, explore the Bernoulli Principle, and discover Canadian aviation innovations.

What do swimsuits and sharkskin have to do with aircraft? Students will handle aircraft building materials, learn about the changes in aviation technology over time and discover a world of aerospace careers.
